Sheree Renée Thomas is one of the most notable editors in our field. She is the editor of the anthologies Dark Matter: A Century of Speculative Fiction From the African Diaspora and Dark Matter: Reading the Bones, winners of the 2001 and 2005 World Fantasy Award for Year’s Best Anthology. These books collect works by many African-American and African writers in the genres of science fiction, horror, and fantasy.
